Adding and editing tags

Use tags to better organize your volunteers activity and status.

Updated over a week ago

Tags let you group your volunteers in the directory. It's a great way to highlight superstar volunteers or give you a way to filter or send a segmented message. Tags you add are only visible and editable by your organization.

How to tag volunteers

To tag volunteers go to the Directory select the checkbox next to the name of who you wish to tag and click 'Tag’ in the toolbar.

Then select the tag from the list and press the button to tag everyone you selected. If you wish to bulk 'Remove Tag' simply switch the toggle across the top.

If you do not see the tag you need just type the name and click "Create new tag".

You can see which tags a volunteer is associated to from their profile card. You can also tag volunteers individually here by selecting the '+' button and choosing the tag from the list.

Note: If recently applied tags are not visible right away, try refreshing the page.

How to edit or delete a tag

To make changes to your tags, go to Settings / Data in the main navigation on the left, you will find Tags across the top of this page. You can delete tags using the trash icon or update the name of the tag with the edit pencil icon.

Note: You will notice next to the tag is a count in brackets. This count only includes people who are listed in the Directory. If you associate a tag with someone in the Onboarding or Inactive views, you can open their profile card to view.

If you wish to create a new tag click the 'Add New' button top right corner.

Search for tagged volunteers

To view everyone with certain tags select the Filter in the Directory. If you’d like to exclude certain volunteers from a list you can select the filter option for 'Tag is not'.

What can I do with tags?

Working with tags is very flexible and since you have unlimited tags the sky is the limit. The most useful way people use tags is to group and message. You can run a filter with tags or a combination of tags and then click the 'Select all' checkbox and press 'Message' in the toolbar. You can also filter and bulk qualify for applications, move to inactive, export, or delete.

Tip: Use the down arrow next to the 'Select all' checkbox to select all pages.

The fastest way to message a group of people with a specific tag is by using the Segments option when creating a new message. If you need to message people regularly with a combination of tags, use the Saved Search feature which is also an option within Message Segments.

Is there a tag limit?

No, all plans have unlimited tags, but as with any other type of data, the tradeoff could be slower app loading time. Using only as many tags as you need, and deleting unused tags is always a good practice.

How do I export a list of my tags?

We don't currently have a way to export a list of your tags, however, you can highlight the data by going to the tags page in Settings and copying and pasting the data into a spreadsheet.
