About tags
Tags are lightweight, internal labels that help admins organize volunteers in the Directory. Tags are private to your organization and are not visible to volunteers.
Use tags to keep track of things, filter your Directory, or group volunteers when you want to send a targeted message. Volunteers can have multiple tags, and you can add or remove them at any time.
Creating and managing tags
Go to Settings > Tags to view all the tags created for your organization. From here, you can:
Create a new tag
Rename an existing tag
Delete a tag
All Timecounts plans include unlimited tags. The number beside each tag shows how many volunteers in your active Directory currently have that tag.
Adding tags to volunteers
You can add tags to one volunteer or multiple volunteers at once. To tag multiple volunteers, go to Directory > Active and select the volunteers you want to update using the checkbox.
Click Tag in the toolbar, then select an existing tag or create a new one. If newly applied tags are not visible right away, refresh the page.
Tagging a volunteer from the profile card
In a volunteer’s profile card, you can view their existing tags or add new ones by selecting Add Tag and choosing from the tags list. To remove a tag, hover over the tag in the profile card and click the X to unlink it. Alternatively, you can switch to Remove Tag in the popup and select the tag you wish to delete from the volunteer's profile.
Filtering volunteers by tags
Go to Directory > Volunteers and click Filter. Select Tags, then choose the tag you want to filter by. You can combine tags with other filters to narrow down your results. If you use the same set of filters regularly, you can save it as a Saved Search.
Sending messages using tags
Tags make it easy to send a message to a specific group of volunteers. Filter your Directory by a tag, select the volunteers you want to contact, and send your message. You can also use tags when creating Segments to target messages to a particular group.
Automatically applying tags
On the Pro Plan, tags can be automatically applied based on responses to certain profile fields. This can help organize volunteers automatically as information is collected.
Exporting volunteers by tag
To export volunteers with a particular tag, filter the Directory by that tag and export the results. There isn't currently a separate export of your organization's tag list.
