How to make documents available for volunteers to download in the hub.

Updated this week

This feature is available on the Pro Plan. \

What is the purpose of the resources section of the hub?

The Resources section is the perfect place to share relevant documents with your volunteers and visitors. Whether it’s training guides, codes of conduct, or information about your organization, everyone has easy access to what they need—no more back-and-forth emails!

Here’s why the Resources section is a game-changer:

  • Self-service access: Volunteers can quickly download documents whenever needed, anytime.

  • Saves time: Reduces repetitive questions and allows your team to focus on other essential tasks.

  • Keeps everyone prepared: Ensures volunteers always have the information they need to feel confident and ready.

  • Centralized and organized: All your documents are stored in one place, making them easy to update and share.

Using the Resources section will save you time, reduce hassle, and help your volunteers stay informed and empowered.

Customizing the introduction to your resources page.

To personalize the introduction of your Resources page, go to the Hub Editor and click Resources at the top. Here, you can edit the title and paragraph that volunteers will see at the top of the page. While this section is optional, we highly recommend taking a few minutes to make it your own—it will help your organization appear more professional and welcoming.

Once you're done editing, click Save Draft or Publish in the top right corner to save your work. You won’t see the documents here; they are managed on the Details page. However, if you’ve already uploaded them, you can publish your changes and click the Share button to view everything together.

You can use this space to explain what volunteers should do with the documents, provide additional context, or share tips on how to use the materials best. For example, you can highlight the importance of specific documents, guide volunteers through a process, or suggest which resources they should prioritize.

Adding files to your resources page.

Uploading files to your Resources is simple. Open the Hub Editor from the main navigation and click on the Details tab at the top. Scroll down to the Resources upload section—it’s located here to remind you to set your visibility settings.

Click the Upload Documents button and select files from your computer, Dropbox, Google Drive, Facebook, Instagram, or wherever you store them. Consider renaming the files before uploading to make it clear to volunteers what they’ll be downloading.

After selecting your files, click Done and hit the Save button at the bottom of the Details page to save your changes and make the files available to volunteers.

Setting visibility permissions for your resources page.

Now that you've set up your Resources page, it's time to decide who can view it and when. Go to the Hub Editor > Details and scroll to the Resources section. Here, you'll find three options for displaying your Resources:

Private to Directory Volunteers (default): This option keeps your Resources hidden from the public and only visible to volunteers who have completed their onboarding. Volunteers will see the Resources tab but must sign up to access the content.

Public: Choose this option to make your Resources tab visible in your hub navigation, allowing everyone to view and download your documents.

No Resources: If you’re not ready to launch the Resources tab or don’t plan to use it, select this option to hide the tab from your hub completely.

Once you’ve made your selection, be sure to press Save at the bottom of the page to apply the changes.

Deleting a document from resources.

If you need to remove or replace a document, go to the Hub Editor, click on the Details tab at the top, and scroll down to where your uploaded Resources are listed. To delete a file, click the grey X next to the document you want to remove.

How volunteers experience resources.

Once you’ve added documents to the Resources tab, they’ll automatically be available for download to volunteers and visitors (depending on your settings) under the Resources page of your hub.

Volunteers can easily click on any document to download it, making it simple to read and share whenever they need.
