Why opt-in to the search directory on Timecounts?
Sometimes volunteers are told to "go to Timecounts and sign up," but they may get frustrated if they can’t find your hub or don’t have a direct link. Timecounts doesn’t make organizations searchable by default since many prefer to stay private. However, if you're okay with people discovering your hub, enabling search visibility can help people find you more easily.
How to make your hub visible in search.
To opt-in, go to Hub Editor > Details and scroll down to the Search Visibility section. Switch from the default option, Private (do not appear in search), to Public (visible in search), and press Save at the bottom to apply your changes.
Opting into the search directory doesn’t change your hub’s permissions—it just makes it easier for people to find you if they come to Timecounts and bypass your volunteer hub. To test the search, go to your own user dashboard at timecounts.app/me and use the search bar at the top. You can use the search within organizations to try it out on mobile.
What volunteers see when your organization is set to private.
When your organization is set to private, volunteers won’t be able to find your organization by searching for it in the search bar at the top right of their User Dashboard.
What volunteers see when your organization is set to public.
When set to public, volunteers can search for your organization by name in the search bar on the User Dashboard. Clicking on it will take them directly to your hub.
